Who wants to go salsa dancing with me? When I wear this dress, I feel cool, flirty and effortless. Salsa lessons required, however.
I’m one of those people who, when they find an article of clothing that is AH-MAZING, classy AND available in different colors, I’m all for buying additional colors or at least one additional color (depending on the price). I don’t know about you, but I feel I can try on an endless amount of clothes in stores without finding something that looks right on me…so when I find something that does AND it’s available in multiple colors, I can’t help but stock up on it, just like my V-neck boyfriend tees from Target.
I found this amazing dress at Banana Republic during 35 or 40% off sale and loved it and the price so much that I bought a black one, as well. Why I love this dress and can’t wait to transition it to fall:
1) The length is perfect! It’s a midi-dress! It’s lightweight enough for the summer and can easily be layered on for the winter (you’ll see what I mean by this in an upcoming blog post about how to save money and transition summer clothes into fall/winter wear).
2) It’s extremely forgiving. Because the dress is more like a free flowing trapeze dress, I wanted to make it more feminine by cinching it at the waist with a twice-wrap-around belt. However, I can easily remove the belt and make it feel more boho and free.
3) The flare! You know how a bride’s train or veil continues to make an entrance into the wedding and doesn’t just stop when she’s reached the front pew…that’s kind of how I feel about the flare of this dress. When the wind catches the fabric in the right way, it can create this beautiful flowy flare. If there’s no wind where you live, then an occasional twirl will work, as well 🙂 I’m in full support of the occasional twirl!
To make my feet worthy of my dress, I paired it with my favorite heels from Banana Republic, the Jovana Pump. You’ll see these heels make a guest starring role in a majority of my posts and for good reason!
The belt has a beautiful delicate plait and wraps around the waist twice. Although we don’t have any close-ups of the belt, it’s multiple/woven plaits in a dark brown color. I purposely bought the brown color because it does go well with both this and the black dress and, well, just about anything else.
Le cheapeau is from Target. It’s a camel colored wool felt hat with a dark brown leather strap detailing around the band of the hat.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a dress that is definitely a summer staple for me, but I look forward to crossing it over to fall/winter.
