When in Rome, you travel to Vatican City.
I wish my trip to Vatican City went better, but my migraine had plagued my entire visit to this beautiful and special place.
When planning my trip to the Vatican Museum, in hindsight, I wish I had done one thing differently and that was to buy the ticket online because we ended up waiting in line for over an hour. Not fun.
However, the wait was definitely worth it.
The museum had beautiful artworks, sculptures and frescoes.
One of my favorite frescoes happened to be a room/hall called The Gallery of Maps. There are 40 maps and they each represent a region of Italy.
Last, but no least, was the Sistine Chapel. It’s a breathtaking masterpiece and has been painstakingly restored. Textbooks, print and media do no justice to
The Creation or Adam and Eve and the Forbidden Fruit.
Being at the Vatican Museum and in this city felt very surreal. Regardless of what I have learned in art history and school, it in no way prepared me for the profound experience of just being here. With history.
